Move on UP

Move on UP is a weekly talk/music show devoted to ideas meeting action. As the name suggests Move on Up strives to showcase upward movement within the Community,the Central Valley and the World at large.

Host and creator Devoya Mayo along side engineers Mykal Powell and new edition Joseph Cody have commandeered the airwaves at KFCF/ KPFA for over 3 years now, and in that time have interviewed folks involved in Art, Activism, Education, Health, International Affairs, Poetry, Digital Storytelling, Immigration ,Housing , Music, Politics, Youth Advocacy, Sports, Peak Oil, Peer Counciling, Community Organizing,Film, and a host of other issues as well.

Each show begins with Devoya reciting a poetic rendition of what Move on Up means for all those involved in its weekly production. Then the melodic sounds of the late great Curtis Mayfield performing the song of the same title (the inspiration for the show) chimes in, and its non-stop for the next hour.

The show's signature conversational tone and humor, along with a heavy selection of background beats help set the mood and pace of the weekly production. The authentic M.O.U sound is important as well and is created by featuring music which is then woven throughout the discussion by way of highlighting 1 LP or artist of the week.
